Sparta giving birth to 6 kittens

-

Great video of our cat Sparta (American Shorthair mixed) giving birth to 6 kittens. Includes her pregnancy, contractions, birthing, and weaning. This was her second litter. The American Shorthair is a gentle, affectionate cat that makes a marvelous pet. They get on well with children and most other pets, being even-tempered and quiet. For that reason they are always one of the most popular breeds of cat. They are easy to train and are also the most popular choice for film and advertising directors when they need a feline star. American Shorthairs are happy to be either an indoor or an outdoor cat. If allowed outdoors they will indulge their hunting instincts and often bring home their prey. They are a healthy, long-lived breed with an average lifespan of 15 to 20 years. Camera Sony HDR XR 550VE were used to make this video.
Video Rating: 4 / 5

  13. FeistyAmazon2009:

Wonderful video. All the feral kittens I rescued, the Mamas had only broods of three, so that’s how I got the first two still living with me(one we adopted out) and the last three, we took in the whole brood! We still feed the feral Mama of our two eldest cats! And finally after 7 years, she lets me pet her! Your cat and kittens have wonderful markings! It must have been a kitty with a steady paw who took the high quality video at kitty level, and a very, very steady paw, which I appreciate!

  14. smoshfan868:

    Love the 2 tuxedos.

  22. bustercharl777:

Yeah, we had our Tabbie mixed with persian breed with our russian blue, and the 4 kittens came out beautiful.
Just remember if anyone has a pregnant cat, keep them in at all costs. Because if they give birth outside, they won’t come back. They’ll stay there until the kittens are old enough to go about on there own. :)

  23. Bossiiiii:

who’s pregnant? the cat or the yellow shirt?

  24. dearmalika:

  27. youbeat2008:

    Wow. Hope you enjoyed it!

  28. freedomwv:

Looks like you had a good time Jon. I am glad you really enjoyed yourself.

  29. ilexgarodan:

Jon, you picked a perfect location! Hell, these videos have convinced me to visit St. Lucia.

  30. Jon:

@miles2057 – No, it’s not a terrible thing – it just doesn’t exist. No one is «from» Los Angeles. I know 100+ people that live in LA. 0% of them were actually born there. Her accent is same as mine, New England.

  31. Jon:

@mayhempk1backup1 – I suppose so… but with decent financial management, it isn’t that hard to save up for a trip as seldom as a honeymoon.

  32. miles2057:

@Jon You say it like it’s a terrible thing.
Where is her accent from then? That’s my initial thought.

  33. austinm4m1:

Come on guys, stop asking him the personal and financial details of his honeymoon >_>.

  34. pumkinwife:

I like how when your wife kind of interrupts you that you don’t say something like, «Hey, it’s my time to talk.», and that you just continue at your pace.

  35. mayhempk1backup1:

@Jon That does sound a bit more accurate than what I said. Perhaps it would be better worded that you are very fortunate to have a good job in the first place that you can make a steady income off of and not have to be afraid of being laid off and have enough money to have a great honeymoon?

  36. Rulerofwax24:

Although I completely encourage you to spluge on a honeymoon, but about how much did everything cost between the air, hotel, food, and whatever else you might have done?

  37. pmunkyandpals11:

    @Jon Fair enough.

  38. Jon:

    @Metroidzard – Yeah, I’ve been busy.

  39. Jon:

@mayhempk1backup1 – Luck assumes an even playing field — perhaps I have a job because I work harder than most people, and have a specific skill set people want to employ? Nice try though, but my going on honeymoon has nothing to do with luck.

  40. Jon:

@pmunkyandpals11 – I’m not hostile… I just don’t have time to hold everyone’s hands who asks a dumb question, sorry.

  41. jeremyshaw:

Looks like it was pretty interesting there, Jon and beautiful, too. Personally, I would have loved to see how the foods and spices and all we grown and harvested and prepared and I almost certainly would have preferred to try some new/different cuisine! Thanks for sharing! HA BISKY! «Liked»! Go Rebecca! Woo! I’m with her on what she’s interested in.

  42. pmunkyandpals11:

@Jon Jon, I love your videos. But why are you so hostile to some of the people who comment? Even if they’re not being malicious or hateful?

  43. mayhempk1backup1:

@showbizpizzablog No, he is lucky because it is a fact that not that many people are in a good enough financial standpoint to be able to get a vacation as nice as that. A lot of people don’t even have jobs at all. It IS lucky, based on factual statistics. There are other people that work just as hard just to make ends meet.

  44. Metroidzard:

Jon, it’s cool you stretch your videos out and stagger your different programs but it’s been a month since this happened! I practically forgot about this adventure blog series.

  45. xHUNGNASTYx:

@Jon LMAO.. well as long as you guys had a great time.. which it looks like it was amazing…

  46. ThePepsiFreak:

    That time lapse was awesome!

  47. asagpol:

@Jon Well not everyone has the money, so in that sense you’re «lucky» :P

  48. showbizpizzablog:

@mayhempk1backup1 Still not lucky. He had to work hard to get the time and the money, right? Even if you think YouTube isn’t a real job, it still is hard work.

  49. mayhempk1backup1:

@Jon He means you’re lucky to be fortunate enough to have the time and money to allocate to go there. Most people aren’t that fortunate.

  50. Jon:

@xHUNGNASTYx – Please… we flew American, there was no deal here, haha.
