surreal animation by Tatsuo Sato part 1 of 3 FULL VIEW PLEASE (dude, if you watch it on the little screen you’ll get tired)
This tutorial will take you through the Moebius Cast-On (MCO) and first round of Moebius knitting, as taught in my two books on the subject: A TREASURY OF MAGICAL KNITTING and A SECOND TREASURY OF MAGICAL KNITTING.

The audio is amazing.
I just watched all three parts and at the end when it is all tied together i realized that this is the most incredible thing i’ve ever seen. thank you Tatsuo Sato you are an amzing person.
@ModestTruth Apparently this entire animation is about the pain the director of the film felt when his wife had died, and that he would have gone to any lengths to bring her back but in the end (Just as in the film) it is futile.
@jackalhunt1 It depressed me, especially further on when it shows God cutting the earth in half and eating the center. It really…really depressed me lol. Definitely not a movie for everyone. But the first barrier is watching it in its entirety…
@Iemanonymous1 The creator of this anime… I think… hung herself?
The theme of it is Death.
The story is young cat trying to get older cats soul back.
It doesnt happen because once dead you stay dead.
Explanation for dumb people.
LOL WHAT IS THIS HAHAHA THIS IS DUMB DOESN’T MAKE ANY SENSE
If you’re having trouble understanding what it’s about, pay close attention to the very beginning.
The major theme of the film is water, why is this?
I could pretend to know what this was all about, but I’m not ashamed to say that I don’t,. This is quite possibly one of the most unique things I have ever seen.
I’m not even sure if I like it or not.
why i … funny
hahahaha lol
this is amazing to watch when i’m high

@Crysetha heehee, yup :PP I didnt get it a first too, but it makes me feel rly sad ://
@NatalieSilverBelz
I have watched the whole «movie»… but i don’t get the end, when the all … oh^^° maybe i shouldn’t write it here on the first part ^^°
@Crysetha u’ll know after u see the whole thing. I love this animation
@Iemanonymous1
well then, instead of reproaching. could you explain what its about?…:(
wtf did i just watch
The author of the original manga committed suicide. This is her most famous work, kinda reflects her thoughts. Some say that after watching Cat Soup, they kinda understand why the author committed suicide….
putting ladies back together LIKE A BOSS
that’s bloodmagic, dude. you’re going to jail for that…
If I watch this longer, I’ll be mad…. = w =
I watch this entire movie once every few months, it helps me stay sane…
I don’t get it…but my head hurts.
to be honest this is really interesting. I don’t find it «creepy» just creative in its own way. I’m kind of seeing the usual generic things all the time.
this cat is creepy as fuck.
Hey… the whale on the circus building, the one going through the wave, that’s the same as when later time is stopped and that whale was frozen in time through the wave.
Huh. Didn’t notice that before.
Hi Cat! thank you so much for this pattern — i’ve given it as gifts in Christmas past and i even gave it to a friend who needed a sling and he loved having something warm, stylish and functional.
now i have a technical question: are you familiar with linen stitch (instead of k1p1 ribbing, the wrong side st is slipped). imagining a magical moebius in this pattern, i’m wondering if you think i can/should try the 1st ring of knitting in pattern. thanks and happy everything to you and yours ♥
I would love to purchase your books, but I haven’t found them yet at a price under $40. Please — can you suggest somewhere I can purchase them?
That yarn looks comfy.. :))
Addicting. I now understand why. Golly. Thank you!
I have made a couple of these cowls but have given them to friends.. Now I need to make me one! One of my next adventures is to knit my first pair of socks.. and I think that the Coriolis sock sounds easy enough for a first attempt. I just saw it on a rerun of Knitty Gritty. I am excited to give it a try. I’ve all the ingredients for the attempt except for the actual pattern and the courage, but I’ve ordered a book that is supposed to have it so I’ll get over my sock phobia!
So if I don’t want this to be «bipolar» would I just knit one row then purl the next? Maybe I just need to finish the one I just cast on then do another to play around with stitches!
I’m so ADDorable that your video is breaking through and that’s such a good thing. Thank you, Cat.
Have fun in San Marcos!!
You are brilliant! I use your 2 circular needle technique for socks and I’m about to start my second mobius scarf. Thanks so much for your books — which are awesome and for posting these videos!!!
you have an amazing mind. I love this cast on and refer to it for my moebius pattern. I love the moebius and it really is an amazing thing, especially when you knit it with a reversible fabric that has a different look on both sides.
Thanks for this video — you make the technique «doable» — except after trying many times, my end product resembles a snake or rope more than anything else; I have only one twist — what did I do wrong???
@wegsjac to go to the same side……..
THANK YOU! You made it so easy to follow. Please, keep on doing more videos like this!
Baie dankie vir hierdie insigewende video. Groete uit Suid-Afrika.

This Moebius video is superb. Thankl you for the clear instructions! I have a question though… I am using your pattern in the Second Treasury book, and the yarn I am using is Malabrigo Sock weight. When casting on I notice thaat he 47 cable kind of bulges up top, making it hard to knit into any stitches… Is it because of the skinnier yarn? should I combine the sock weight with something else to make the yarn bulkier?
Thanks!
@catbordhi Where can I find these circular needles. I haven’t been able to find anything? Please advise.
Thank you so much for that tutorial! You’re a great teacher— eloquent, calm, and you make it look so easy and fun! I’m going to buy some cable needles and try this out! And thank you for using that thick yarn; it was very easy to see and understand what you were doing!
Great video Cat and I love your book «A Treasury of Magical Knitting». I was hoping to find a youtube video after my first very confusing attempt at following the instructions in the book. And my first attempt was with Denise kneedles and uggghh… very frustrating, the cast on was way too tight! So I switched to the longest Addi Turbo kneedles I had on hand and success! It’s fun and I can’t wait to see what my first project ends up looking like! A nice «twist» for my knitting hobby!

does anyone knitting a mobius with Cat’s cast on have trouble with that first row having stretched stitches that go around thru the middle on the first half of the first round, where you are knitting the cast on? I would love some help from someone of even Cat, to resolve this. I am on my 6th or 7th mobius and have tried all I can think of to not have that row with the stretched stitches. help!!!
Thank you so much for this video Cat…..I love mobius but must come back here often to cast on….Thank you for being so great at explaining this….
What kind of circular needle do you use, what brand etc.
In the video which helps greatly, you put the market on the right needle but say that you are putting it on th left.
I bought your book because someone knit the reversible lotus blossom hat for my daughter and she loved it but lost it. So I’m going to make another one her. The knit shop in Evanston, IL, where I bought your book (CloseKnit) directed me to the video which as I said helps greatly.
I saw online that the size 5 was the longest and then somewhere else they said 60″ was the longest. I just Googled it.
I just love how you explained MOEBIUS (with the strip of paper and the sentence) without dropping a stitch and never missing a beat! You make a great teacher and I thank you for this. Someone has a Moebius hat on here with awesome trim on it but they specify that they don’t do patterns, just sell hats. It is Strawberry Couture’s Stitch or something. I love that pattern and would like to make one of these.
