The American Shorthair is a gentle, affectionate cat that makes a marvelous pet. They get on well with children and most other pets, being even-tempered and quiet. For that reason they are always one of the most popular breeds of cat. They are easy to train and are also the most popular choice for film and advertising directors when they need a feline star. American Shorthairs are happy to be either an indoor or an outdoor cat. If allowed outdoors they will indulge their hunting instincts and often bring home their prey. They are a healthy, long-lived breed with an average lifespan of 15 to 20 years. Camera Sony HDR XR 550VE were used to make this video.

I was before Youralone —————————— The Cats was een popgroep uit Volendam, bestaande uit zanger-gitaristen Cees Veerman (* 6-10-1943) en Piet Veerman (* 1-3-1943), Jaap Schilder (* 9-1-1943) (gitaar, piano), Arnold Mühren (* 28-1-1944) (bas) en Theo Klouwer (* 30-6-1947, † 8-2-2001) (drums). De band was vooral populair in Nederland en Duitsland. The Cats heette in eerste instantie The Mystic Four, ontstaan uit een samenvoeging van Electric Johnny and the Skyriders (Arnold en Cees) en de Everly Kosters (Piet en Jaap). Later veranderde de naam in The Blue Cats waarin drummer Theo Klouwer de gelederen kwam versterken. De band kon (mede) opgericht worden door een lening van Jan Buys, hun latere manager. Dit was de vriend en latere echtgenoot van de zus van Jaap Schilder, een van de leden van The Cats. De groep had de grootste successen in de periode 1968 — 1972. ———————Halverwege de jaren ’80 verliet Piet Veerman de groep. Hij scoorde een solo-hit met het nummer Sailin’ home. Op 23 maart 2006 werden The Cats benoemd tot Lid in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau. De bandleden Cees Veerman, Piet Veerman, Jaap Schilder en Arnold Mühren kregen de onderscheiding uit handen van de burgemeester van Volendam. Tegelijkertijd bracht de band, als éénmalige reünie, in de woorden van Piet Veerman «als dank aan al de fans» op initiatief van Bert van Breda, Johan Tol en Michel Veerman en met medewerking van producer John Ewbank van oa Marco Borsato, een cd/dvd …
